A follow up to my debut album, this is my first collection of cover songs. We kick things off with a tribute to three of Minnesota's best: Westerberg, Prince, and Dylan. Then we follow it up with some more really good music.
Ross Railhala of the Pioneer Press names it one of the 10 best albums of 2008:
"Scott transforms 'Sign' into something that sounds like an outtake from 'Dusty in Memphis' and the gender-switched 'Big Boy Now' into a jaw-dropping soul jam. Who would've guessed a track from Dylan's divorce epic 'Blood on the Tracks' could be turned into makeout music?
Elsewhere on the disc, Scott digs into Stevie Wonder ('You Haven't Done Nothin'), Sonny and Cher ('The Beat Goes On') and Blind Faith ('Can't Find My Way Home') with that sort of steely confidence that comes from both talented backers (Westerberg/Jonny Lang sideman Kevin Bowe produced the album) and youth (she has just hit her mid-20s)."
